India is at the threshold of a drastic demographic shift to an aging population by 2050. I teamed up with researchers to understand the challenges of family caregivers of persons living with dementia. An interview-based study was done with 20 family caregivers residing in urban Bengaluru with persons living with dementia. The analysis of the interview reports was used for requirement elicitation followed by product ideation of DemCare360 (which is represented in the diagram above).
DemCare360 is a comprehensive AI based system designed to support individuals with dementia and their caregivers. The system includes an AI Assistant Roze, sleep monitoring device, wireless GPS tracker, indoor radio-signal based movement tracker and a cross-platform mobile app. Unlike other home-based care management products, which are mobile applications designed for general problems in home-based elderly care, DemCare360 offers specialized support for dementia care, ensuring a higher level of precision and effectiveness.
Nightingales Medical Trust (the largest elderly care organization in Karnataka) and Dementia India Alliance (the largest pan-India organization of social workers and therapists) are currently collaborating and are friendly partners in the development process of the DemCare360 platform.
This study explores the usage patterns of ChatGPT among Indian college students and examines the prevalence of attention deficit symptoms within this population. The findings contribute to the development of an AI-integrated learning management system, 'FocusBuddy,' designed to support students struggling with attention deficits.
The study reveals that college students primarily use ChatGPT for writing assignments and exam preparation, finding it highly effective for these tasks. However, its performance in composing emails, conducting research, and assisting with statistics and calculations was rated moderate, indicating areas for improvement.
Analysis of scores from 100 students showed that 44% exhibited ADHD-like symptoms, with inattentive traits more common than hyperactive/impulsive symptoms. Female students showed a higher prevalence of inattentive symptoms than males. Many students with attention difficulties remain undiagnosed, highlighting the need for AI-based study tools.
The study found a weak negative correlation between ChatGPT usage and difficulties in task management, suggesting some benefits in reducing distractions. However, a weak positive correlation with careless mistakes and restlessness indicates potential drawbacks.
Based on these insights, FocusBuddy will integrate research tools, task management features, focus enhancement techniques, and mindfulness exercises to support students with attention challenges, improving their academic performance and learning experience.
Led a team of designers and engineers to oversee the entire process of the product development for the autonomous telepresence solution for virtual visits to museums. My work included requirement elicitation, product ideation, coordinate with product designers, user journey mapping, the complete UX of the product, branding and marketing as well.
